Headed South (by southwest)

March 7, 2005
SXSW Interactive, March 11-15 2005

A number of updates – first, yes, I am aware that I managed to go a whole month without posting anything here. One of my last posts mentioned that the first quarter of 2005 was going to be incredibly busy. It has certainly turned out that way, and I can’t complain.

Vacation

It has been 4 years since I took a vacation, so it was about time. The family and I are headed to Florida — they are staying there while I hop over to SXSW. Then I return to Florida for a couple more days before heading home to the cold, frozen, capital of Canada that we call home.

New BlackBerry

I’ve had a BlackBerry (also known as a CrackBerry, due to their addictive nature) for four years now. This is my third BlackBerry, and without a doubt, it is a huge improvement over both prior versions I’ve owned.

There are a number of things that I could say about the unit and its improved usability and the colour screen. The biggest improvement has to be the built in web browser — now supporting full HTML and/or WAP browsing, intelligent support of JavaScript, and apparent support for handheld media type stylesheets.

The proof is in the pudding: I’m posting this as we are driving through North Carolina using the new BlackBerry.

SXSW

Let me know if you’re going to be at SXSW by leaving a comment here so that I know to look for you. (That means you too Malarkey!!)

I expect you mean “The proof of the pudding is in the taste.”

Pudding …ever wonder why some brands need no refrigeration at all? Creepy. Anyway, see you there Derek!
