Today is the day

July 8, 2005

No retrospective, no “Oh, I feel soooo old,” no corny sentiments.

Its my 34th birthday today, and I was greeted with two lovely handmade cards from my kids (my son Kampbell helped out his sisters Kaitlyn and Kyla on both of them), and a number of “goodies” to satisfy my belly – including a bunch of UK treats. My favourite is the McVities chocolate topped digestive biscuits (don’t know why, I just love them…), found at a lovely local shop thanks to my wonderful wife Kathryn…

I certainly don’t feel any older – but perhaps just a bit more blurry. Is it bad that I’ve “lost” my wallet twice in the last ten days, and then found it in really silly places after tearing the house apart?

Happy birthday Derek!

Since I missed you when you were in Toronto, the next time you’re here I promise not be to ‘gigging’ or doing anything other than buying you a beer. We’ll get a little Toronto web designer crew together (Pete Flaschner lives a few doors down the street from me) and tear up the town… Ok, hang out and chat ;)

Been lurking for a while now and figured I’d at least pop my head out and say Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great one.

Happy Birthday you old dragon!

(I’m trying to catch up with you, got another year to go!)

Happy day! Enjoy it! And remember, always appreciate (and celebrate) the age you are… cause there’s certainly nothing you can do to change it. :)

Happy birthday… now where is that ‘one pager?’ ;)

So you’re getting senile and forgetful in your old age anyway the secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age. Have a great day young man and save me some cake.

Happy birthday!!!!!
So now you’re entering the transitional phase where you step on the scale first thing in the morning and count your remaining hairs at night. Rest assured – this will go away. When you are as old as I am you learn to ignore your own graceful degradation.

Dragons don’t age! But happy birthday anyway. I turned 34 a couple of weeks ago…don’t really feel old yet. Blurry is a good way to describe it.

Happy birthday Derek. Have a good one.

Is it bad that I've "lost" my wallet twice in the last ten days, and then found it in really silly places after tearing the house apart?

Have you checked the contents? Where do you think your birthday presents came from?

Happy birthday, and many happy returns, Derek.

I’ll be 34 in 7 years time, as soon as I can work out how to make time travel backwards.

Happy (very belated) birthday Derek, sounds like you had a good one. Yeah, I love those chocolate coated McVities as well: they’re kind of a great mixture of sin and virtue.

Derek,

I was re-reviewing your awesome post from Aug 2004 about whether the QuickBooks Online Edition blog would work for us. I’m the General Manager and I have to say it’s an unqualified success! There are so many more things we need to do and we are so far from perfect, but we’ve kept at it, struggled, learned a lot, connected much more with our passionate users, spoken to many prospects, converted some, and all in all, it’s been a wonderful new tool to engage with the people who pay our salaries.

And now, I was kind of asked to get blogs up and running for many other parts of Intuit – so Intuit senior management cares alot about this type of thing helping all of us better engage with customers.

Thought you’d like to know.
Regards,
Paul

Happy Birthday Derek!

Don’t worry about the wallet thing, Its nothing to do with age, i’m 19 and i’m always tearing up the house to find my wallet which I end up finding is in another pair of trousers or in another room when I got it out to order something.

Happy birthday young man. ;-)
