Announcing: Web Directions North

September 25, 2006

Web Directions North: Vancouver, BC, February 6-10, 2007

It is here – a top-notch line-up of speakers for an international conference in Vancouver, Canada. We bring you Web Directions North.

Registrations aren’t open yet, and we’re still tweaking the site but we couldn’t wait to show you what is happening, and who we’ve got speaking. For the past 5 months Maxine Sherrin and John Allsopp of Westciv, Dave Shea from Bright Creative and myself have been working quietly behind the scenes to bring this idea to fruition. I am ecstatic to be working with such a great team, and hope you’ll be as excited to come to the conference as we are to be putting it on!

Starting with your choice of full-day workshops, two days of conference goodness and finishing with two days of skiing/snowboarding with all your friends at Whistler, Web Directions North is not to be missed.

Great job, guys. Really looks like a great conference and a great lineup of speakers. I wish I could be there, but I don’t think I can afford both it and SXSW (and I’m already registered for SXSW). Maybe next year…

Anyway, thanks for adding one more great conference to the annual schedule!

Congrats Derek! I’m pretty excited about this one, because for once, I’ll probably be able to attend!

I’ve taken a look at the site, and all I can say is WOW! I haven’t had the finances to attend other conferences such as SxSW, but I might be able to manage to go to this one. I’m in Victoria, just across the water from Vancouver, and wouldn’t have to go very far. This is sounding more appealing by the minute!

I am really happy to see accessibility of the web untangled in my ex-home town. Nice to meet you in Sydney Derek. Wish I could be there but alas, the hemispherical divide rules the finances. Your ideas of simplicity should be standardised.

Derek,

Your presentations at the Webmaster Jam Session in Dallas last month were terrific! I recorded them for later podcast for Nick & J. @ Coffee Cup. Just a quick note to let you know that they are both now available at http://www.QuesoCompuesto.com

Thanks again and enjoy the podcasts!

Derek,

This is great! As you may have known some of us discussed a conference like this last year but never did anything about it–especially after some of the articles that came out about the cost of building a conference.

My two wishes are: that 1, it be more than just a dev/design conference and 2, that it be affordable to get there as Vancouver is a very, very long haul from small town, NS–although much closer than Sydney.

I hope to be able to see you all there.

All the best,

Jay

Hey Derek, if you need a hand organizing the conference from someone on the ground here in Vancouver, let me know. I helped organize our recent BarCamp Vancouver and had a great time. I also know a little about the ins and outs of Whistler skiing and accommodations.

Hey Derek.

The more I think about this event coming to my home town, the more I look forward to it.

Looking forward to saying hi face-to-face and gaining some more insight on accessibility.

Regards,
Marco
